Conditions We Treat

We treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to the following:

Anxiety is a natural reaction to stress and uncertainty. Some individuals can experience it excessively and debilitatingly. It can manifest in various forms, such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias, making daily life challenging and overwhelming.

Anorexia

Anorexia is a severe eating disorder characterized by abnormally low body weight, intense fear of gaining weight, and a distorted self-image. People with anorexia restrict their food intake, leading to malnutrition and physical and mental health complications.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts an individual’s ability to concentrate and control impulsive behaviors. It’s generally diagnosed in children and can continue into adulthood.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder distinguished by difficulties with social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviors. The severity of the effects varies from person to person, ranging from mild to severe. With early intervention and treatment, people with autism can lead fulfilling and productive lives.

Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition characterized by extreme mood swings, ranging from depression to mania. It affects a person’s ability to regulate emotions, causing disruptions in daily life and relationships.

Depression

Depression is a mental health condition where individuals experience long-term feelings of sadness, loss of hope, and dwindling enthusiasm for activities they were once passionate about. It can also cause physical symptoms such as changes in appetite and sleep patterns, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.

Impulse Control

Impulse control refers to the ability to control one’s actions, emotions, and behaviors in a regulated and appropriate manner. People with impulse control difficulties may struggle with acting impulsively or without considering the consequences of their actions. This can result in issues across various aspects of our lives, including work-related matters, relationships, and financial obligations.

Mood Dysregulation

Mood dysregulation refers to persistent and severe mood swings. That can result in intense irritability and unpredictably intense emotional responses to events. It’s typically diagnosed in children and adolescents and is considered a severe form of bipolar disorder. People with mood dysregulation experience extreme, intense, and unstable mood swings. Often, their emotional responses don’t match the intensity of the situation. Treatment for mood dysregulation may involve medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes to help regulate moods and symptoms.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

OCD is a psychological disorder that sees individuals consumed by uncontrollable intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or rituals they feel compelled to participate in (compulsions). These obsessions and compulsions can cause significant distress, consume a lot of time, and interfere with daily functioning.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can develop after exposure to a traumatic event, such as combat, sexual assault, or a natural disaster. It’s identified by symptoms that include intrusive thoughts or flashbacks of the traumatic occurrence, avoidance of related objects and circumstances, persistent feelings of anguish, and heightened alertness.

Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a severe mental health concern characterized by a breakdown in the relationship between thought, emotion, and behavior. It often causes individuals to experience hallucinations, delusions, and disordered thinking. These symptoms make it difficult for a person to distinguish reality from fantasy. This can lead to many symptoms, including social withdrawal, disorganized speech and behavior, and loss of interest in daily activities. While it can be challenging, many people with schizophrenia can lead successful lives with the proper treatment and support.

Sensory Issues

Sensory issues refer to difficulties in processing information from one or more of the senses—sight, sound, touch, taste, or smell. This can lead to discomfort, distress, or even avoidance of specific stimuli. Sensory issues can be a part of various conditions, such as autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or developmental delays. Individuals with sensory issues need proper evaluation and treatment to support their sensory needs and improve their overall quality of life.

Sleep Irregularity

Sleep irregularities refer to patterns of sleep that deviate from normal and healthy standards. Struggles with sleep can manifest in various forms, such as difficulty falling or staying asleep, waking up too early, and excessive daytime drowsiness. Sleep irregularities can be a symptom of an underlying condition or a result of lifestyle factors, such as stress, anxiety, or sleep apnea.

Suicidal Ideation

Suicidal ideation refers to thoughts about wanting to die or take one’s own life. Suicidal ideation varies from casual thought to a detailed plan and is an issue that requires immediate action and intervention. It’s essential for those experiencing suicidal ideation to reach out for help and support from mental health professionals and loved ones to ensure their safety and well-being.
