My ideal client is someone who is brave enough to ask for help. It may seem counterintuitive, but one constant in our lives is change – and change can be scary. Whether it’s change in who we are or who we thought we were, change in our relationships, or change in our life circumstances, I want to help my client navigate these changes in healthy, sustainable ways. My desire to help comes from my client – they embrace the process of transformation and are motivated to do the work that comes along with it.
A key therapeutic modality I use in my practice is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is all about harnessing the power of the mind to change our reality. Our thoughts control our feelings, and our feelings control our actions. By starting with a change in thinking, I believe anything is possible.
My guiding principle when working with clients is meeting them where they’re at. When a client walks into my office (or virtually), they’ve already taken a critical step in their transformation journey. To honor that, I intentionally work with my clients to facilitate change in their lives in ways that resonate with them.
