Jamie Gervickas, PLPC

Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor

I am a counselor at our Martinsburg clinic who offers therapy services!

My ideal therapy client is someone who is experiencing the impact of the journey of life. A client who is coming to therapy with an open mind to try new things, step outside of their comfort zone, and ultimately think about how they can support a better well-being for themselves. My ideal client would find freedom in somatic interventions, allowing their body to be part of the healing process—perhaps even dancing as a form of release and self-discovery. Most importantly, they are committed to cultivating a deeper sense of joy, resilience, and balance in their life.

As a dance/movement therapist and counselor, I view therapy in a holistic lens. I strive to integrate all parts of oneself to better understand what is impacting the client’s well-being. I do gravitate towards somatic interventions and believe that the mind and the body are always connected. However, I also use dance/movement when appropriate with clients and only with their willingness to do so. It is my hope that by the end of therapy, my clients will feel more integrated within themselves by connecting the mind and the body to support the highs and lows that life has to offer.

I want patients to know that I am always learning. Always trying to discover new interventions and ideas to support my clients in the best way possible because you never know what technique will click most with any specific client. I have a range of energy that can be met with dancing out our emotions or tuning down towards mindfulness or yoga.
