Enis Fox-Schauffner, PLPC

In my practice as a counselor, I am guided by a deeply held belief in the intrinsic worth and potential for growth within every individual. Drawing upon the principles of Rogerian, person-centered values and Seligman’s theory and practice of positive psychology, I strive to create a therapeutic environment that fosters a sense of acceptance, empathy, and connection. Central to my counseling philosophy is the conviction that people thrive when they are supported, cared for, accepted, and connected to others. Through the lens of Rogerian values, I aim to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly and authentically. By offering genuine warmth, empathy, and unconditional positive regard, I seek to cultivate a therapeutic relationship characterized by trust, respect, and collaboration. Positive psychology serves as a guiding framework in my approach to counseling, emphasizing the importance of fostering strengths, resilience, and well-being. Rather than solely focusing on pathology and deficits, I work collaboratively with clients to identify and leverage their innate strengths, resources, and capabilities. By encouraging a strengths-based perspective, I aim to empower clients to tap into their inherent potential for growth, self-discovery, and personal fulfillment.

My ideal client is one who is ready to work in collaboration with to me uncover and overcome barriers to their happiness. Whether they need help learning about emotions, processing trauma, strengthening relationships, or uncovering their strengths, my goal as the therapist is to work through the client’s issues with them while fostering their independence and autonomy.

Ultimately, my counseling philosophy is grounded in the belief that every individual possesses the capacity for self-awareness, self-actualization, and positive change. By embracing the principles of Rogerian values, positive psychology, and the importance of interpersonal connections, I am dedicated to empowering clients on their journey toward greater self-discovery, resilience, and well-being. Together, we can work collaboratively to unlock their potential and cultivate a life filled with meaning, purpose, and fulfillment.
