Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor
I am a clinician at our Charleston clinic who provides therapy services!
An ideal client for me would have issues that keep them from trusting, understanding, changing perception, acceptance and forgiveness. Their needs would be increased confidence, resiliency, self-compassion and self-awareness. Goals would include coping mechanisms, increase in self-esteem, and boundaries. They would want to be happy and possess the tools to cope with stressful situations and learn to address any cognitive distortions by using thought diffusion.
My specialty is trauma informed care. I offer psychoeducation, trauma narratives, and the ability to communicate how they are feeling to others without being overly emotional or feeling “triggered”. My main goal is to help thrive instead of just surviving.
I consider myself an eclectic counselor because I will utilize any theory or approach that increases my client’s ability to cope and thrive. I also would describe myself as “fellow traveler”. I want to walk next to my clients through the therapeutic process instead of leading to pushing them. I am adamant about meeting the clients where they are and responding to any emails or voicemails in a timely manner.
